Layout
Single column · asymmetric grid
ATS compatibility
Excellent

A single-column flow with no graphics — one of the safest structures for parsers.

Single column, generous line spacing and fixed-width section headings on the left. Colour appears only as a thin rule. For candidates who want the experience itself to carry the page.

Layout

How the Minimal template is built

Knowing how information sits on the page before you pick a template directly affects how your application gets read.

Asymmetric grid

Section headings sit in a fixed 110-pixel column on the left with content flowing to the right. This fixes the reader's eye on a single vertical line, so moving between sections needs no scanning.

A single accent rule

Colour appears only in a 16-pixel rule beneath the header. The rest of the page is black and white, putting attention entirely on the content.

Generous line spacing

Body text is set at 1.75 line height. It uses more vertical space for the same word count, but makes a tightly written resume markedly easier to read.

When not to choose this template

  • If your resume barely fits one page — the generous spacing costs you room
  • In creative fields where visual impact is expected (design, advertising) — the Creative template suits better
  • If you want to include a photo — this template was designed without one

You can compare the alternatives side by side in the template comparison table.

Frequently asked questions

About the Minimal template

Isn't the Minimal template too plain?

The plainness is a choice, not an omission. In senior specialist, consulting and academic applications the content speaks for itself, and visual devices can read as a distraction.

Can I show a photo in this template?

You can switch it on in settings, but the layout was designed without one and looks best that way. If you need a photo, choose the Modern or Professional template instead.

Is the Minimal template suitable for ATS?

Yes — it is one of the two best choices. The single-column flow, absence of graphics and standard section names mean parsers read the content in full.
